How Big Is Your Baby?
After talking to several of our doctors, we have prepared a comparative study of baby size and weight in the womb. To make it simple, we have compared the baby to easily recognizable pulses, fruits and vegetables. Just a glimpse will give you an idea of how big your baby really is.
Baby in 4 weeks
Your baby, now a fetus, is now almost the size of a poppy seed.
5 weeks
Your baby is roughly the size of a sesame seed at this point. By this point, the person appears to be less of a person and the frog appears to be more of a larva.
6 weeks
By six weeks, your baby is roughly the size of a grain of lentils. Length: 5mm (Small smaller than about inch.) This is the first time your baby’s heartbeat can be detected in an ultrasound scan.
7 weeks
Your baby has now grown twice as much as in the previous week. Now it has become almost as big as a chickpea. Length: Approx 10mm (Shorter than about inch.)
8 weeks
By this time your baby is almost as big as kidney beans and weighs around one gram. Now he is constantly moving in the womb. (Length: about 1.6 cm, from head to buttocks.)
9 weeks
Your baby is now almost the size of a grapefruit and weighs around two grams. (Length: about 2.3 cm, from head to buttocks.)
10 weeks
By this time your baby will barely be the size of a green olive and weigh about four grams. (Length: approx. 3.1 cm, from head to buttocks.)

11 weeks
Your baby is almost the size of a fig by this time. Its weight will also now be up to seven grams. (Length: approx. 4.1 cm, from head to buttocks.)
12 weeks
Your little one is now about the size of a small lemon and its weight is now about 14 grams. (Length: about 5.4 cm, from head to buttocks.)
13 weeks
Your baby is now about the size of a pea and weighs around 23 grams. (Length: approx. 7.4 cm, from head to buttocks.)
14 weeks
Your sweet baby is now almost like a big lemon. He also now weighs 43 grams, which is twice as much as last week. (Length: about 8.7 cm, from head to buttocks.)
15 weeks
Your baby is now almost as big as an apple and weighs around 70 grams. (Length: Approx. 10.1 cm, from head to buttocks.)
16 weeks
By this week your baby is almost the size of a pear and his weight has also reached around 100 grams. (Length: about 11.6 cm, from head to buttocks.)
17 weeks
Your baby’s weight this week is around 140 grams, which is roughly the size of a lump of ginger. (Length: about 13 cm, from head to toe.)
18 weeks
Your baby baby is now almost as big as a capsicum and weighs around 190 grams. (Length: about 14.2 cm, from head to buttocks.)
19 weeks
This week your baby is almost the size of a big tomato and weighs around 240 grams. (Length: about 15.3 cm, from head to buttocks.)
20 weeks
Your baby is about the size of a banana by the time you reach 20 weeks. Its weight is also around 300 grams. (Your baby will be measured from head to toe at around 20 weeks. Length: about 16.4 cm from head to buttocks and 25.6 cm from head to toe.)
21 weeks
Your little one is now almost as long as a carrot and weighs around 360 grams. (Length: about 26.7 cm, from head to toe)
22 weeks
Your baby is almost like a long cucumber or cucumber by this week. Its weight has also increased to about 430 grams. (Length: about 27.8 cm, from head to toe.)
23 weeks
Now the weight of your unborn baby has become almost like a big mango i.e. a little more than 500 grams. (Length: about 28.9 cm, from head to toe.)

27 weeks
Your baby now weighs about 875 grams, about the size of a cauliflower. (Length: approx. 36.6 cm, from head to toe.)
28 weeks
Your baby is almost the size of an eggplant at this point. His weight has dropped to just over a kilogramme. (From head to toe, the length is approximately 37.6 cm.)
29 weeks
By 29 weeks, your baby is almost the size of a pumpkin. His weight is also around 1.2 kg. (Length: approx. 38.6 cm, from head to toe.)
30 weeks
In this week your baby is almost the size of a big cabbage and weighs around 1.3 kgs. (Length: about 39.9 cm, from head to toe.)

31 weeks
Your baby now weighs about 1.5 kg, the equivalent of a coconut. (Length: about 41.1 cm, from head to toe.)
32 weeks
Your baby is now taking up more space in the womb. Its weight is now about 1.7 kg, almost as much as a large sweet potato. (Length: about 42.4 cm, from head to toe.)
33 weeks
Your baby’s weight is now like a pineapple i.e. about 1.9 kg. (Length: about 43.7 cm, from head to toe.)
34 weeks
By this week your baby has grown to the size of a medium sized melon. His weight has also reached 2.1 kg now. (Length: about 45 cm, from head to toe.)
35 weeks
Your baby is now as heavy as a large cantaloupe, about 2.4 kilograms. He no longer has enough space in your womb to perform acrobatics. (Length: about 46.2 cm from head to toe.)
36 weeks
Your baby boy has already weighed more than 2.6 kg, and is increasing at the rate of 30 grams per day. The length of the baby is now the size of a lettuce leaf (about 47.4 cm, from head to toe).
37 weeks
By this week your baby is about as tall as a stalk of Swiss chard. Her weight is also around 2.9 kg now. (Length: about 48.6 cm from head to toe.)
38 weeks
Your baby is now almost the size of a jackfruit. Her weight is also around 3.1 kg now. (Length: about 49.8 cm, from head to toe.)
39 weeks
Your baby now weighs about 3.3 kg, the size of a small watermelon. (Length: about 50.7 cm from head to toe.)
But keep in mind that the average Indian newborn can be slightly smaller and weigh between 2.5 to 2.9 kg. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), a baby who weighs less than 2500 grams (2.5 kg) is called a “low birth weight baby”, regardless of what stage of pregnancy the baby is born with.
40 weeks
Your baby is now the size of a small pumpkin / cilantro and weighs a little less than 3.5 kg. (Length: about 51.2 cm, from head to toe.)
Indian babies are slightly smaller at birth compared to the global average. The average weight of a newborn baby in India is 2.8 kg.
