The festival of Maa Shailputri is celebrated with great pomp across the country. Maa Durga is considered as the embodiment of Shakti. Durga Puja is worshiped in Navratri. Navratri means 9 days. During these nine days, 9 different forms of Mata Durga are adored. Worshiping Goddess Durga by law in 9 days of Navratri brings happiness, prosperity and peace in life. Along with worshiping the nine forms of the mother, fast is also kept for 9 days of Navratri.

The meaning of Durga is the remover of sorrows. People worship Goddess Durga with full devotion so that Goddess Durga can remove sorrows from their lives and fill their lives with happiness, joy and prosperity. Many unalike forms of Goddess are worshiped all through Navratri. During Navratri, Goddess Durga is worshiped in the form of Maa Kali, Maa Lakshmi and Maa Saraswati.

For the first three days, the goddess is worshiped in the form of Kali, who is the destroyer of all our evils and impurities. For the next 3 days, we all worship the form of Goddess Lakshmi, from whom we get happiness and prosperity, and for the next 3 days, the goddess is worshiped in the form of Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge, who gives us the right knowledge and learning.

On the initial day of Navratri, the Shailputri form of Maa Durga is adored. She is known as Shailputri Mata because of her birth in the form of a daughter in the house of the mountain king Himalaya.

Appearance of Shaiputri Mata

The Shailputri form of the mother is considered very auspicious. His vehicle is Vrishabha and he is also known as Vrishorudha and Uma. It is believed that when Goddess Sati took rebirth, she appeared in this form of Goddess, hence Shailputri Mata is worshiped as the first form of Goddess.

Goddess Shailputri Mata holds a Trishul in her right hand and this Trishul bestows blessings on devotees and destroys sinners. A lotus flower is adorned in the left hand of the goddess, which is considered a symbol of peace and knowledge.

Story of Shailputri Mata (Sati Mata)

Prajapati Daksh organized a huge yagya in which he invited all the gods to the yagya. But Lord Shankar, the god of gods, was not sent an invitation for the Yagya. When Mata Sati heard about the yagya, her mind was stirred to go to her father’s place.

When Mata Sati told Lord Shankar about the yagya, he considered everything and said that Prajapati Daksh has invited all the deities to his yagya but he has not called us intentionally. . He is annoyed with us for some cause. If you go there in such a situation, it will not be right. Mother Sati did not agree even after Lord Shankar’s refusal. Seeing his great request, Lord Shankar gave him permission to go to the yagya.

 

When Mata Sati reached her father’s house, she saw that no one was talking to her with respect and love. Only his mother embraced him with love. The words of the sisters were full of ridicule. He was very sad to see such behavior of the family members.

Sati’s heart was filled with anger, guilt and anger and she remembered the words of her master Lord Shankar. He felt that by coming here he had made a big mistake. Seeing all the deities in the yajna, she could not bear the humiliation of her husband and at that very moment she burnt her body by yoga fire.

Hearing this incident, Lord Shankar became very angry and by sending all his Ganas, the yagya of Prajapati Daksh was completely destroyed. In the next life she was born as the daughter of the mountain king Himalaya after Sati had burnt her body and became famous as Shailputri Mata.
