Things to Be Kept In Mind While Lighting a Lamp
The worship of Gods and Goddesses cannot be complete without lighting a lamp. If you cannot worship properly, then just light a lamp and normal worship can be done by chanting a special mantra. It is auspicious to chant the mantra mentioned here even while taking aarti in the temple.
दीपक जलाते समय ध्यान रखने योग्य बातें
बिना दीपक जलाए देवी-देवताओं की पूजा पूरी नहीं हो सकती। अगर आप ठीक से पूजा नहीं कर सकते हैं तो सिर्फ एक दीपक जलाएं और एक विशेष मंत्र का जाप कर सामान्य पूजा की जा सकती है। मंदिर में आरती करते समय भी यहां बताए गए मंत्र का जाप करना शुभ होता है।

Shatru-Buddhi-Vinaashaaya Diipa-Jyotir-Namostute..
Greetings to the radiant glow of the lamp, the creator of good fortune, well-being, and abundance, which dispels negativity; Salutations to the luminous essence emanating from that lamp.
Diipa-Jyotih Para-Brahma Diipa-Jyotir-Janaardanah.
Diipo Haratu Me Paapam Diipa-Jyotir-Namostute..
“Salutations to the radiant lamp, which represents the Supreme Brahman. The lamp’s luminosity signifies Lord Vishnu, the sustainer of the world. May this divine light absolve all my transgressions. I offer my reverential greetings to the illuminating radiance of the lamp.”
This mantra’s simple meaning is that we honour the light of the lamp, which brings auspiciousness and wellbeing, health and riches, kills the enemy’s intelligence, and grants victory over the foes. By burning a candle and repeating mantras, we may ensure happiness and success in the family while also protecting ourselves from foes.
In this way, by lighting a lamp and reciting mantras, there is happiness and prosperity in the family and we are protected from enemies.
मंदिर में दीपक जलाते और आरती करते समय इस मंत्र का जाप करना चाहिए।
दीप प्रज्वलन मंत्र
शुभं करोति कल्याणमारोग्यं धनसंपदा।
शत्रुबुद्धिविनाशाय दीपज्योतिर्नमोऽस्तुते॥
शुभ, आरोग्य और समृद्धि के प्रवर्तक, दीप ज्योति को मेरा नमस्कार, जो शत्रुता पूर्ण भावनाओं का समूल रूप से नाश कर देता है ऐसे दीपक के अद्वितीय प्रकाश को मेरा प्रणाम है।
दीपज्योतिः परब्रह्म दीपज्योतिर्जनार्दनः।
दीपो हरतु मे पापं दीपज्योतिर्नमोऽस्तुते॥
(दीपक के अद्भुत प्रकाश को नमन) दीप का प्रकाश परम-ब्रह्म का द्योतक या प्रतिनिधि है, दीपक का प्रकाश संसार के पालनहार भगवान विष्णु का प्रतिनिधित्व करता है। दीपक का प्रकाश मेरे सारे पाप हर ले; दीपज्योति को प्रणाम।
इस मंत्र का सरल अर्थ यह है कि शुभ और कल्याण, आरोग्य और ऐश्वर्य देने वाली, शत्रु की बुद्धि का नाश करने वाली और शत्रुओं पर विजय दिलाने वाले दीपक के प्रकाश को हम नमस्कार करते हैं।
इस प्रकार से दीप प्रज्वलन करने और मंत्र के जाप करने से घर-परिवार में सुख-समृद्धि एवं शान्ति बनी रहती है और समस्त शत्रुगणों से हमारी रक्षा होती है।

2. A lamp of ghee should be lit on the left hand side in front of the deities. The oil lamp should be lit on the right hand side.
देवताओं के सामने, घी का दीपक बायां ओर जलाया जाना चाहिए। तेल का दीपक दाहिने ओर जलाया जाना चाहिए। ।
3. Keep in mind that the lamp should not be extinguished in the middle of the worship. When this happens, the full fruit of worship is not achieved. If the lamp goes out, it should be lit immediately and apologize to God for the mistake.
ध्यान रखें कि पूजा के बीच में दीपक बुझना नहीं चाहिए। ऐसा होने पर पूजा का पूर्ण फल प्राप्त नहीं होता है। दीपक बुझ जाए तो उसे तुरंत जला देना चाहिए और गलती के लिए भगवान से क्षमा मांगनी चाहिए।
4. White cotton wick should be used for ghee lamp. While the light of red thread is more auspicious for the oil lamp.
घी के दीप के लिए, एक सफेद रंग की रुई की बत्ती का उपयोग करना उपयुक्त माना जाता है और तेल के दीप के लिए, एक लाल रंग के धागे की बत्ती या रोशनी को अधिक शुभ एवं उपयुक्त माना जाता है।
5. A broken lamp should never be lit in a place of worship. Broken things are not considered auspicious in worship.

6. If the lamp is lit regularly in the house, then positive energy always remains there. The harmful micro germs present in the environment are also destroyed by the smoke of the lamp.
घर में अगर नियमित रूप से दीपक जलाया जाए तो वहां सकारात्मक ऊर्जा हमेशा बनी रहती है। दीपक के धुएं से वातावरण में उपस्थित हानिकारक सूक्ष्म कीटाणु भी नष्ट हो जाते हैं।
7. According to Scriptures, a lamp should be lit near the main door every evening. This pleases Goddess Lakshmi. For this reason, the tradition of lighting a lamp near the main gate in the evening is going on.
शास्त्रों के अनुसार रोज शाम को मुख्य द्वार के पास एक दीपक जलाना चाहिए। इससे मां लक्ष्मी प्रसन्न होती हैं। यही कारण है कि शाम के समय मुख्य दरवाज़े या द्वार के समीप दीपक जलाने की प्रथा चली आ रही है।

8. Keep these things in mind regarding the direction of the lamp:-
- Keeping the flame of the lamp towards the east increases the age.
- Keep in mind that keeping the flame of the lamp towards the west increases sorrow.
- Keeping the flame of the lamp in the north direction brings wealth.
- Never keep the flame of the lamp towards the south, doing so causes loss of life or money.
दीपक की दिशा के संबंध में इन बातों का ध्यान रखें:-
- दीपक कि बाती या लौ को पूर्व कि दिशा में रखने से आयु में वृद्धि होती है ऐसा कहा जाता है।
- स्मरण रखें कि अगर आप दीपक कि लौ को पश्चिम कि दिशा में रखते हैं तो उससे दुख में वृद्धि होना माना जाता है।
- दीपक की लौ उत्तर दिशा में रखने से धन की प्राप्ति होती है।
- दीपक की लौ कभी भी दक्षिण दिशा की ओर न रखें, ऐसा करने से जीवन या धन की हानि होती है।
