Method of Ekadashi Fast
For Ekadashi fast, on the day of Dashami, after taking bath in the morning, worship Lord Vishnu and sleep near the place of worship at night. Waking up on the next day (Ekadashi) in the morning after taking a bath, one should worship Lord Vishnu with flowers, incense etc. chanting Om Namo Bhagwate Vasudevaya Namah. Along with this, after fasting for the whole day, worship of Lord Vishnu should be done with devotion at night. After this, on the day of Dwadashi, after getting up in the morning, after bathing, after offering food to Lord Vishnu, the Pandit should take food himself.

Ekadashi Fasting Rules
- Don’t do wooden teeth on the day of Ekadashi, take lemon, berries or mango leaves and chew them, plucking a leaf from a tree is also considered prohibited. Take a leaf that has fallen, then eat it yourself.
- If it’s not feasible, gargle twelve times with water. Then take a bath and go to the temple and recite the Gita or listen to the recitation of the Gita from the priest.
- On the day of Dashami, those who observe the Ekadashi fast should abstain from eating meat, garlic, onions, lentils, and other restricted foods.
- Complete celibacy should be followed at night and stay away from indulgence.
- If possible on the day of Ekadashi, one should not sweep the house. On this day, avoid getting your hair trimmed.
- On this day, give as much as you can. But never accept food etc. given by someone.
- On the day of Ekadashi (Gyaras), the fasting person should not consume carrot, turnip, cabbage, spinach, etc.
- Eat fruits that contain nectar, such as bananas, mangos, grapes, almonds, and pistachios.
- Everything should be accepted by offering food to the Lord and leaving Tulsi leaves behind.
- Brahmins should be given sweets and dakshina on the day of Dwadashi.
- Sweet words should be spoken without getting angry.
